Tallinn Marathon

Estonia’s largest running event, Tallinn Marathon (Tallinna Maraton), is celebrating the 100th anniversary year of the Republic of Estonia with a grand running party in September. This year, all finishers will be awarded with a special medal designed for the jubilee. For the first time in Tallinn Marathon the participants in the 10km distance will also get a medal.

Medals for all the distances will be similar in design but different in colour. Marathon runners will be rewarded with a medal with a golden gloss, half marathon finishers will get a silvery medal and those finishing the 10km distance a bronze one. As the main motif, the medal bears a cornflower, which emanates purity and simplicity of the north, and the silky ribbon in blue-black-white shows the already familiar silhouette of Tallinn. The author of the historical medal is designer Priit Verlin.

In addition to the medal in national design this year’s Tallinna Maraton is special because the organisers expect the participants to gather at the starting line wearing the national colours of Estonia – blue, black and white. The organisers will try to help everyone who wishes to obtain running gear in flag colours, and running shirts in the national colours are already available at www.jooks.ee. Marathon runners will get the shirt for free, those registering for the half marathon or the 10 km distance will get a chance to buy the shirt at a 50% discount.

Tallinna Maraton will take place from 7 to 9 September this year. This major sporting event is kicked off with Nike youth race on Friday, followed by Mesikäpa kids’ races and the 10 km Autumn Run on Saturday, culminating on Sunday with the marathon and half marathon. Participants can register for the different distances at www.tallinnamaraton.ee.
